Steve Robinson (Executive Vice President for Radio & Project Development for WFMT and the WFMT Radio Network) joined the organization in August 2000 from the Nebraska Public Radio Network. In 2008, Steve and Bill McGlaughlin were given the Dushkin Award for Exploring Music from the Music Institute of Chicago. Previous recipients of this prestigious award include Sir George Solti, Placido Domingo, Mstislav Rostropovich, Daniel Barenboim and Renee Fleming. He continues to oversee the day-to-day operations of WFMT and the WFMT Radio Network. Under his leadership, WFMT has diversified its programming to a considerable degree and substantially increased its listenership and subscriber base. The WFMT Radio Network has also enjoyed exceptional growth under Mr. Robinson’s direction and is now one of the dominant producers and syndicators of classical, jazz and folk radio programs in the world. In 2007, Mr. Robinson was named one of six “Chicagoans of the Year” in the arts by the Chicago Tribune.
